Local Harvesting or Delegated?

I’d like to ask the community to see the pros and cons of local vs remote harvesting. Now that the funds are transferred, i’d like to see how the funds traverse through the system and learn more about the backend systems

  • Can i setup a NIS server on a different machine in my local network to run NIS and point to the server?
  • Do I need the 3M xem balance to run a NIS server or is that specifically for a super node?
  • Are there any specific advantages to running locally vs. delegated?
  • Is there anything to look out for which would put my xem at risk?
  • If I create an app, can i point it to my local node?

Thank you…

Found most of what I was looking for here, though i still have some questions.

Can i setup a NIS server on a different machine in my local network to run NIS and point to the server? Not Sure, still seems like it needs to be a supernode?
Do I need the 3M xem balance to run a NIS server or is that specifically for a super node? No, Node is separate.
Are there any specific advantages to running locally vs. delegated? Sorta covered in link but not what i was looking for.
Is there anything to look out for which would put my xem at risk? Nope
If I create an app, can i point it to my local node? Still wondering if i want to recapture some fees from an app, could I harvest my own tx from the system i’m using or my users?
