Is it possible? I mean, you can subdivide a XEM into many decimals, I suppose it’s anticipating on the future use of XEM. What would need to happen so that 1 XEM = 100 dollars ?
All is possible.I think Makoto can answer your question
For 1 XEM to be $100, you need a market cap of $899,999,999,900.
Is this possible?
Think about it. The more recent housing bubble of 2008 was $10 trillion. Worldwide there’s $97 trillion investments, of which $2 trillion is gold. There’s also $400 trillion in derivatives. Crypto currencies at $10 billion is almost nothing - dropbox is worth more than Bitcoin and yet I don’t see governments around the world trying to ban dropbox or write laws on it. The governments already realize the potential in crypto currencies but it’s an education issue we are facing. The merchants could really speed up things if they offered 1% to 2% discounts to people who pay in crypto currencies.
What really can cost NEM in the nearest future?
I agree, I think a 1 trillion dollar market cap could be possible, especially when NEM becomes a good platform for the derivatives market. However, there is ofcourse competition like Bitshares and others who all operate on the same market. However I think it becomes important to first build a strong platform that is able to handle huge volumes of transactions and encourages participation in the network. From that point of view NEM is the most obvious choice to me. By the way how does the possibility of a 51 attack of POI compare vis-a-vis PoS and PoW?
I don’t think bitshares is going to be a competitor.
51% attack is not practical in any large currency, but I think PoI would cost more to attack than PoW.
