A lot of the conversation happens on Telegram/Slack/IRC

We have integrated Telegram <-> Slack <-> IRC.

If you found this forum a little quiet, that is part of the reason.  Probably about 90% or more of the projects/communication are done there.  If you would like to join, please follow this link.  https://nemslack.herokuapp.com/

Those should only be for bouncing ideas and chit chat. As soon as something becomes concrete it should be moved here imho.

A lot of information is lost on those chat platforms.
There was great content about the NIS config file on telegram, but it is definitely lost for people who missed it. If it had taken place on the forum (or equivalent forum-like platform), it would have been available for linking and reference for newcomers. I really think this is hurting NEM…

Just to add my 2 XEM on this, while the activity may be hopping on chat, it comes at the expense of the forum activity.  The big issue here, IMO, is that new / interested users who don't know about the chat will find the community slow / dead looking.  The perception of a dead community around an altcoin can significantly impair its rep.  In fact, after seeing the XEM price dropping today and noticing the lack of forum activity, I was afraid the platform was starting to die off due to lack of interest.

I really don't want to see that happen, as I am a firm believer in NEM and its principles. Now that I know about the chat, I'll be joining there, but it may be a not-so-obvious bar to entry for newcomers.

Edit:
It looks like https://nemslack.herokuapp.com/ is down.  Can I get an invite on Telegram?  User id is Garaux.  Thanks

This speaks for itself I suppose.
TBH I get frustrated of this slack thing  ::) Call me oldfashioned but I still prefer this forum  ;D

Currently there is a discussion about the communication on chat (Telegram/Slack/IRC)  too.

On proposal is to use http://www.discourse.org as forum software and try if users will use it, if so the forum will move. This will lead to more segregation at the beginning but it may be a solution to use a modern forum and remove need for the chats.

I'm fine with this forum, but important is where communication happens.

Functionality wise i don't see much difference between muut and discourse. I don't see what it is that supposdly makes them better than this forum. Just that it's not as cluddered with old irrelevant posts ? I'd rather use this forum and spend a little more time moderating tbh.

Someone add me to telegram please? Username is @kodaxx
