It is cumbersome for a merchant support multiple cryptocoins in his shop; someone accepts bitcoins, very few accept Doge or NXT… it will he hard to convince them to accept NEM too.
It would be nice to implement a bitcoin payment system through NCC so that people don't have to deal with exchanges and another wallet.
Immagine developing APIs that allow my NCC to communicate with "proxies" that receive NEM from me and send BTC directly to the BTC address I type in my client.
For every proxy I shoud see in my NCC fees, BTC availability, trust rating…
Such a feature wolud make NEM much more useful in everyday life.
This is a really good idea! I think the deluge of cryptos is confusing to the average person, not just merchants. Working between currencies should be as transparent as possible.
If a legal entity were created to do the conversion, then trust should not be so much of an issue I think.

That's what NEM should be and will be. Support this and you shall see it happening - http://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2337.0 - as it is part of the Fast Exchange, which is not just an exchange per se.
That's essentially what Ripple and now Stellar are providing. It'll be interesting to see if we can get this going for NEM as well.
