Hi, I am new to NEM , was curious about it and the blockchain. Here are some doubts,

  1. Is NEM a public blockchain or it can be used to create private blockchain as well?

  2. Can I host a currency on NEM? What are its advantages over hosting a cryptocurrency on Ethereum?

  3. Is NEM based on Proof of Work algorithm, if yes what PoW algorithm it uses?

  4. What are blockchain specifications (like time in which a new block is created, reward to miner, total number of coins etc).

Welcome,

  1. Yes NEM is a public blockchain and yes there is a private blockchain called mijin - however you can’t create your private blockchain yet as important parts are closed source - that will change over time.

  2. Yes you can do that and regarding ETH please read this here.

  3. No it’s using PoI.

  4. NEM’s white paper.
