Here comes the supernet trend: http://downloads.xc-official.com/images/14-10-15%20Blocknet%20presentation.pdf
Not sure how I feel about these. Linking together a bunch of clone coins of dubious value does not really make anything better or LESS complicated. It only increases the complexity exponentially and makes it a mess in terms of management and security (in my opinion).
If I was a good trader I might want to jump in at the start then jump out maybe making some money, but Im a rubbish trader so Ill probably not bother with it like I didnt bother with supernet…
So Blocknet is competition to Supernet?
Will there be a Universenet which connects Supernet, Blocknet and other "Overnets"?

I guess any coin that would be included in both nets could possibly act as a bridge.
What makes me scratch my head though is that NHZ is part of this. I mean if you were to pick one of the crappiest clones then you might just end up picking NHZ (unless I've missed something and the project turned 180
I just dumped all my holdings from James until this settles.
I had a good vision for supernet where it wasn't just cross blockchain but cross third party functions, but I am not sure if that will happen.
I imagined a network where lots and lots of different services would connect to the supernet giving it soooo much potential.
But now Supernet isn't even out yet and it is already getting cloned. Who knows when the third or fourth will come out. Reminds me of the country coins and privacy coins. Soooo hard to figure out what was real.
I doubt it is long before the FUD starts… "my supernet is better than you blocknet which is better than your hubnet"
This Blocknet is the SuperNet for the poor
All the coins listed are pump&dump coins

Yep. Very true.
But..... it remains to be seen just what the supernet is going to add that isn't a pump and dump too. When I examine the too 15 coins on CMC I don't see a good chance of James getting them to join the Supernet. And the ones below the top 15 are basically all scams in my opinion. Soooooo..... it remains to be seen just what this supernet can pull off.
While the Blocknet is all a bunch of scam coins going for that last pump, at least the blocknet has a list of coins signed on (maybe most of them were by the same devs under different names anyway so it wasn't that hard). But what promising coins has Supernet teamed with? I have seen Bitcoindark, but I am not sure about anything else.
Now Ciyams AT on the other hand might very well be added to some of the top 15 after it proves its value in some of the sub 15. He has open sourced it, I don't think it will be that hard to put in (but I don't really know these things) and those coins only have something to gain by adding AT. The AT is kind of like turning the alt coin into a little Ethereum. And that is pretty impressive.
James made a ton of money off of Supernet upfront and promises it will deliver. He is a great programmer too. I have always said he is one to watch out for. That said, all that money might scare people off, where as with AT, they realize they are getting extra functionality without having to line anyone's pockets. (shame for me too because there is no way for me to make money off of it like I did buying into James' projects early)
I remember long ago James and CIYAM going at in on the NXT threads, each with his own vision of how they wanted NXT to go. It is pretty exciting that they both made workable projects (well supernet is still being written, but AT is still just in testnet too though). I am stepping out of it until I can figure out whether blocknet or supernet or AT or this other thing CfB is talking about comes through.
The trend continues: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=827804.0
My first thought was "here we go.... How many cheap copies are we going to get?" But after looking at it more, it seems like that project is not nearly as scammy as blocknet, maybe even better than supersnet. They are at least open-minded enough to look at CIYAMs free code.
It simply baffles me how people don't realize that Ripple and Stellar already facilitate inter currency trading on a level that a conglomerate of altcoins most likely won't reach.
Either way, imho that's not where adption is to be had so it stays a very cool project for crypto nerds but that's it for now.

agree. It is more like an academic exercise to prove a point.
By the a person who understood the development of supernet said the blocknet differs by the following: Not there is a centralization of network by a coin (BTCD) and there are no a rate of 10% of an asset reserved for just a dev.
The blocknet will run completely P2P, already at Supernet there is some centralization in key servers.
I know that nobody works free, but that is a considerable difference.

Blocknet has been dumped like there is no tomorrow? whats the reason. i am not following much blocknet.

the supernet is using bitcoindark for its testing, it's not a centralization. supernet uses completely decentralized DHT called Kademlia, and the you can't even know who you are "talking" to through it (aka buying/selling coins, etc). supernet is a decentralized platform. blocknet is a cheap clone with some minor differences from a greedy developer that doesn't know much what he is doing. at least jl777 knows his shit.
