Bought Namespace with old client / old fees - 5000XEM

Hi all,

Seems like I did a 4900 XEM mistake here…
I wanted to buy a namespace, but my client was out of date and I didnt know the fees had been changed.

Basically I paid 5020 XEM for a namespace that actually costs 100 XEM…

Where do these fees go? Is there any way at all to get back what I overpaid?

I know its completly my fault for not updating the client.

I can see the namespace transaction in the client, but not on chain.nem.ninja. Is that normal?

Since I overpaid 50x, does that do anything? Will I have the namespace for 50 years or was it just a complete waste?

It looks like you overpaid because it will be one your same if you buy for new fees.
Probably blockchain explorer doesn’t show namespace transactions.
@BloodyRookie do you know where this fees goes and if it’s case when they are returned (I ask Rin and he don’t know it’s possible to do return)?

Do you have any idea @BloodyRookie?

The fees go to the Namespace Sink:

NAMESP-ACEWH4-MKFMBC-VFERDP-OOP4FK-7MTBXD-PZZA

No way to get it back

Alright… Is it like a burn address?

Expensive mistake then. Thanks anyways.

Not really a burn address, it is supposed to be used one day. But nothing is decided on how it will be used.

that is cool. didn’t know that there exists a sink address. this means that the circulating supply reduces more or less every time a new namespace is registered?!

Right now those xem are indeed out of play. But eventually they will be used for something, just not yet clear for what.
