I’m having difficulty in understanding sending some xem to my nem wallet.
Changelly is asking for a message. However the message field is blank. What am I supposed to put in there?
Is there a code to be found somewhere or should I just leave the message field blank?
If you are sending xem from changelly to nanowallet (make sure you download legit wallet from nem.io) message is not important.
If you sending message to changelly or other exchange message code should be attached (in this case message code should be obtained from exchange)

According to the experiences I have, message is not a must-have when you sending xem, you can input something or just leave it blank. But I suggest you to input something to describe what each transaction is made for, so that one day when you review all your transactions, you can easily know what happened before.
