Common nem problem - message id - changelly and so many other exchanges [SOLVED]

Changelly AND other exchanges not taking any responsibility for Sitting NEMs. The lack of making an important transaction field “MESSAGE ID” a required field with proper example images.

From Changelly:

Unfortunately, we can’t assist you on this matter, for we have already transferred your XEMs to your wallet. We recommend you to contact your wallet support team and ask them how this issue may be resolved.

This message I received is a cop out. It is an excuse to not take responsibility for their lack of front-end development to make an important field to finish a NEM transaction required. This hurts the crypto community. Changelly responded with a typical corporate business response. How many folks are upset that their NEMs are not in their wallet because of this message id error?

LOST dollars, Sitting NEMs in the chain.nem.ninja. It is easy for the front-end developers at Changelly to add code similar to this:

function validateForm() { var x = document.forms[“exchangeNEMform”][“messageID”].value; if (x == “”) { alert(“Message ID must be filled out”); return false; }

}

This will stop a lot of transactions from just sitting and not hitting the NanoWallet. The above excuse from Changelly is not acceptable. They are responsible. Changelly fix your mistake on the front-end. My NEMs are not sent to my wallet. Yes, I did contact NEM and I haven’t heard from them either yet to proceed with my transaction manually. I am going to keep trying. Take responsibility Changelly and NEM to protect your customers, just like credit cards. It is your platform that does not prevent this common error.

When you send transaction from changelly to your personal account in NanoWallet message is not required. Transaction should be processed no matter if you attach message or not.
What is transaction hash you get from changelly?
Please provide all data you see in Changelly about this transaction.

I was trying to also just advocate for better user experience by telling Changelly and other exchange site to make the message id input form field a required field to alleviate this common error. I would love to deliver how to images to these exchanges so no one else makes this rookie mistakes. It is comforting that you said it will hit my wallet, but what I am afraid of is this deadline timestamp. Is that a deadline for the miner or is that a deadline that it has to render into NanoWallet?

What wallet are you using?

I’m using NanoWallet. NEM download for Mac OS.
I see the first transaction 121XEM. That one I processed with a message. My developer friend helped me and I forgot to add message to the larger transaction,

Should I be doing something in the wallet receive part?

@keeyawangjones you should be able to see both transactions in your nanowallet.
Please try change node you are using - maybe node is not up-to-date.
Please click green circle in top right corner and select another node (please try couple).

Yes, Changing Nodes worked!!! What does a node do?
Also, I am going to create a beginner’s error guide for this experience on Medium as other people are having the same problem and are freaking out where their NEMs are regarding the Message ID.

I would like to give you credit for the excellent troubleshooting!! Do you have a profile I can link too?

Nanowallet connects to node to receive informations about current wallet state. If node is not up-to-date (in block height meaning) it shows not actual information. As far as I know there is plan to add warning if you are connected to not actual node in next wallet releases.
It will be always great if you prepare tutorial for beginners. I can read and verify if you like before publishing.

I have to same problem like topic starter here. I tried to buy XEM from changelly to my nanowallet and i added message in the message field. Changelly accepted my payment but my XEM never arrived to my wallet. I tried all of them different nodes and still dont see my money. Can you help me, please?

Looks like Changelly don’t do this transaction correctly. You must contact with Changelly support and ask for explanation.

I googled nem message field and got the feeling it dont matter what you write in the message field if you are not sending Xem to an exchance…

@Crypter yes. If you are sending to nanowallet message is not important. This is probably some technical problems on Changelly site because couple such a cases was reported yesterday.

Hello. I’m having the same problem. I changed yesterday LTC by XEM using Changelly, I see the transaction is complete but not yet reach my nanowallet. Do I have to wait longer? I have tried to contact Changelly but I have not yet replied. Thank you!!

Yes, as pawelm already pointed out it seems to be a technical problem at changelly. A few people reported the same problem as you. Just wait a bit for the transaction or the reply from the changelly support,
