On January 13, 2020, at 3:00 PM PST (January 14, 2020, at 8:00 AM, UTC+9), there will be a POI community vote on the proposed Symbol Ticker.
After passing the Catapult Brand Recommendation Proposal, the Catapult Brand Steering Committee has reached an agreement to give the community an opportunity to vote for their preferred Brand Ticker for Symbol Blockchain.
Initial Symbol ticker options were collated from the NEM Foundation, NEM Studios, NEM Ventures, supernode owners, community members, core team and ecosystem partners:

PLEASE NOTE: After an extensive brand and trademark search spanning many months, XEM, NEM, CAT, and SYM cannot be used to represent the Symbol Blockchain.
Some of these name suggestions are not ISO 4217 compliant (which means to be compliant, we would need to keep to 3 characters max.) Not all ticker names are ISO compliant but in general, ticker names are recommended to be between 3-5 characters. Read more here.
The voting process is as follows:
- Voting will commence on January 13, 2020, at 1:00 PM PST and will end on January 17, 2020, at 5:00 PM PST.
- Each user account can vote for only a single ticker (as listed above).
- Community members can only choose one from the options.
- Step-by-step voting instructions can be found here.
- The ticker option with the highest POI score will be picked as the winner.
- Once the voting period has ended, the results and next steps will be announced by the Catapult Brand Steering Committee in the NEM Forums.

How to Vote
Voting will take place on the NEM public chain using the NEM Wallet (the newest NEM Wallet version can be found at https://nem.io/downloads/).
- Step 1
Download the latest version of the NEM Wallet at the NEM.io website or the NEM Github page. You will need to update your NEM Wallet to v2.4.7 or higher to participate in the vote.
- Step 2
Once you have logged into the NEM Wallet, go to the navigation bar located at the top of the user interface and select “Services”. Once you have done so, you should see “Voting” near the end of the feature list. You will see a link called “See Polls” under the Voting service, proceed to click on the link.
- Step 3
Navigate to the “Official” tab in the Poll Center and select the poll titled “SYMBOL Ticker – NEM Community Vote”.
- Step 4
You may now vote for your selection.
