I was not able to send NEM from my iOS app so I deleted it thinking I have all that is necessary to restore it- password and the address of my wallet. Turns out it needs a private key to restore the account, which is logical. I guess I lost access to my account?
For mobile wallet applications, it is necessary to restore the wallet by saving the “QR image containing the secret key and password” or the “secret key” itself in another place.
Unless you managed to backup your mobile device, then yes, you need your private key to restore your account.
The password will only unlock your wallet, the password does not allow you to restore.

"I was not able to send NEM from my iOS app so I deleted it thinking I have all that is necessary to restore it- password and the address of my wallet. Turns out it needs a private key to restore the account, which is logical. I guess I lost access to my account?"
App was removed (!), private key backup warning was ignored. This is only user error and we don’t know what is meaning “I was not able to send XEM”.
First rule of crypto. Always do backup of your private key because without private key coins are not yours.
It’s unfortunate that you lost your private keys but as pawelm pointed out backing up private keys is the first thing to do when you’re creating any cryptocurrency wallet.
Please take responsibility for funds and back up your key first thing with a new wallet. If you forget to back it up, create a new wallet, back it up, and send your XEMs there!
why not make authentication for transactions, due to touch?
you can make your updated for wallet nem ios that confirm transaction touch? I am sure that it will solve the problem! and you will be appreciated! can login with touch, all in one such problem!..
@nazsht
I don’t know IOS architecture but touch id IMO changes nothing. It’s only replacement for password and such a data like credit cards data, private key must be still stored in keychain which is not in itunes/icloude backup by default. Only special encrypted backup has this data.
BTW please don’t copy comment in couple topics because it’s good to keep discussion in one place.
Thank you
password is not entered. and the touch id opens
