Few questions regarding setting up VPS for Harvesting

Hello,

I wanted to set up a public VPS node for Harvesting and I’m halfway there, just wanted to ask a few questions regarding things I didn’t fully understood reading tutorials from NEM website. Here it goes:

  1. I have installed Java JDK 8 and NIS on my VPS. I started configuration in config.properties file, but I don’t understand what is this nis.bootKey and where I can find it. Anyone could help me with that?

  2. I downloaded NanoWallet for my Windows home PC, registered Standard Client, and got my wallet address from dashboard. But if I will run a public node, shouldn’t I have 2 wallets (one for node, and one for my private use?) Should I open another account for a node?

  3. My friend told me that if I want to become a proper public node I should get at least 10,000 XEM so that my POI would increase after it is vested. How does it look like? I just get XEMs from ie. Poloniex and then transfer to my “node wallet” and wait? How long does it take?

  4. For VPS node harvesting I need to have “Delegated harvesting” account? So I just change it in the acc options?

Could I get help regarding these points please?

Answers much appreciated:)

Best,
Adam

I believe your setting up a Supernode which require 3Million XEM

To have delagated harvesting, you need to have 10,000 XEM

Hi,
that’s exactly what I asked myself when I
started my node.

  1. your NEM wallet has two pair of private/public
keys. One pair is what NEM calls ”delegated" key,
and it comprehend a private and a public key.
Put the delegated private key on your config.
You can find it in NanoWallet going to:
  • Services (should be a Dash “#” in the upper menubar)
  • Delegated Harvesting
  • "Manage delegated account"
Act by letting the interface show you
    the delegated private key.
Copy the delegated private key into the properties.

There is a milestone guide by Paul here:

Then in the Harvesting panel insert your VPS ip
address.

Buy at least 10k XEM and wait for vesting.
Vesting is increasd by 10% each day.

Upon minimum vested balance, the start
harvesting button in the harvesting
panel will be enabled to click.

Great! Thanks for this crutial info!

I think I will get the delegated harvesting first. I don’t have 3M XEM for supernode yet:)

Thanks again!
