How to send NEM from exchange to nano wallet?

Hi,
I’m new here, so sorry if this is a dumb question but I am hoping someone can help!
I have been trying repeatedly to send some NEM (XEM) I bought on an exchange, to my new NEM nano wallet. However it then says ‘invalid’ under status, and that ‘the address I submitted is not valid for the XEM network’.
I do not understand what I can be doing wrong, plus I did include a message as I see that is important.
I got the address to send it to from account - address, and also send - then clicking receive instead. I notice its effectively the same address, but one has dashes included in it.
I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
Thanks you!

Hello Bothydweller, if getting the error the address is not valid in the NEM network maybe your nanowallet address you create was testnet or mijin.

When you create a new wallet in Nano Wallet you can choose between 3 networks (Mainnet, testnet and mijin). The mainnet is the one you have to choose to withdrawal funds from your exchange.

To check if you have a Mainnet account, the first character should be ‘N’, testnet accounts start with ‘T’ and Mijin accounts with ‘M’.

If your address starts with N and has 42 characters it should work fine.

Hi Guillem,
I can confirm it is definitely a mainnet network - I followed a tutorial and that is the one I selected and it does start with an ‘N’.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi, you are on the correct network maybe there is an error with NEM wallet on the exchange, which exchange are you using? can you provide an screenshot of the error?

Hi,
Using Bittrex exchange; I can’t provide a screen shot as I have since cancelled the transaction, and every attempt I make burns 15 NEM, but the error message was as I described pretty closely.
thanks

You first need to send nem to your new wallet from a friend or faucet to unlock it
