Importing Private keys (solved! Thanks BR)

I have a problem with my wallet opening up. So i do have my keys saved and have another wallet that I can use to import my funds from this other wallet. How do I import my funds from one wallet to another using my private keys?

You just need to add the account via “Add an exiting Account”. The funds don’t have to be moved

Ok. i noticed that the pop up window asks you for the private key which I have and also for a Label? What is a Label? Ok. I think this is the name of the wallet that I wanna label it as?

it is just an alias (name) for the account.

Beautiful. Thank you so much for your time.

I did add existing account and entered the private key but noticed afterwards that the funds from the other account were not showing up on this account that I was adding. Any thoughts?

I noticed that after i downloaded Microsoft 10 I could no longer open up my client but would get computer to shutdown. I wonder if I need to reinstall the java for Nem again since i changed from windows 7 to 10? This is why I was wanting to access my account on another Nem wallet I have by using private key but on the other wallet I did not see these additional funds on the addition of this existing wallet.

Not sure what you mean. Do you see the funds in the account (new wallet) that you added with the private key?

Usually i would expect that a reinstall of Java or the nem software is not necessary. Maybe some other user has experience with upgrading to Win10?

I don’t get this part. Can you restate it more clearly (like the old wallet is called W1, the new wallet is called W2 and so on)?

No, I don’t see the funds from wallet 1(to differentiate). Wallet two is the wallet I want to use to add wallet 1. When I entered my private key in the “add existing wallet” it worked but my balance was 0. I thought that I would instantly see the funds from wallet 1 but did not. All this because I cannot keep my computer running for more than just a couple of minutes. Also, when I try and open up wallet 1 I keep getting this message “we can’t reach this page” which is localhost:8989

i know the internet not the issue with getting Nem wallet 1 running because internet is working.

Are would advice (in order to be sure you are synced) to use at least temporarily a remote server. You can enter the remote server (host) in the settings. If the client now displays the “NIS is synchronized!” message at the top and your account still shows no balance then maybe the private key is wrong.
What is the address of your account?

NBCYQT-UOXCBO-SX4EAB-25ZBID-XXIK5Z-UPQUDL-Q32W

Thanks. Like I said, I tried downloading the Nem wallet again but this doesn’t help. When I click on start ncc it starts but then just says that nis is running but ncc is stopped. When try to open browser, the browser opens but then says that localhost8989 is not connecting. Frustrated.

I know wallet not synched because when ncc trying to open it says needs to be booted.

your account got about 3M xem in it:

http://alice2.nem.ninja:7890/account/get?address=NBCYQTUOXCBOSX4EAB25ZBIDXXIK5ZUPQUDLQ32W

So the real problem is that ncc doesn’t start. Usually that can be solved by deleting the file accounts_cache_mainnet.json in the folder c:\users\YourUser\nem\ncc and then starting ncc again…

Yes

Beleive me if you can get me up and running I will send you some nem, trust me.

I’m currently at work so will not be able to do what you said. So you think this may be the problem? Could this have anything to do with upgrading from windows 7 to 10? Also, ok instances like this, is it easier to just use my private key and or the remote private key to open in another nem wallet?

The cause of the problem with that file is not known.

I am a nem developer, I got enough xem, but thx anyway

Well good to know I’m with a developer. Haha

What do you recommend?

What I wrote above, just delete that file and try to start ncc again.

BloodyRookie, I am not a genius at these things, could you please break it down for me so I know where to look etc… Sorry, I am just learning. And you said to delete this file as well? I will be home at some time today, hopefully. Is this the main way for me to get a hold of you?

So basically delete the file accounts_cache_mainnet.json in the folder c:\users\YourUser\nem\ncc

BloodyRookie, will my private key be a last resort if I cannot get my Nem wallet up and running?

yes. once you are home, just check out if you can it alone. If not, respond here.

As long as you have your private key you are safe. If you can’t get ncc working you could switch to LightWallet.

Man I am so lucky to have run in to you. Thank God. I’m gonna have a chance to ve home in about 30 minutes and I will keep you posted. Thanks man.

BloodyRookie, you did it! Wow, I am impressed that I was able to find this file. Searching for things like this isn’t easy for me but I have to say you made it so easy. Wow. I am really impressed at how you were able to help me with this. I told my buddy who also has his friends with Nem wallets that now I know if he has similar situation.

Is there any way I can make this up to you? If so please let me know. Truly appreciate your help and expertise.
