Issue With Symbol App/Lost Mnemonic

Ok. First off I know losing your mnemonic is the biggest no-no possible but I created my symbol account before I even owned NEM and had not yet figured out about mnemonic phrases, wallets, etc. I still had full access to my symbol opted in account via the mobile app with facial recognition. I continue to have access to my NEM accounts that I opted in with. Unfortunately the symbol app now solely says opt in has finished. You should update your application… but there are no updates yet on IOS. I can’t utilize the desktop version as I don’t know my mnemonic phrase to login with. Am I completely shit out of luck? Will the IOS update come out eventually and grant myself access at which time I can transfer to a new account that I can record the mnemonic for? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, I just was able to update my Symbol app on Android phone, check in Google play store

I have an iPhone. I do not believe there is an iOS update that I can find. After updating were you forced to re-enter your mnemonic when opening your wallet or did the usual pin number/facial recognition do the trick?

After waiting for the ios wallet to be updated, you can login with the mnemonic phrase, and your funds will not be lost. If you don’t want to wait ios wallet, you can use the computer version of the wallet, I am also an Apple phone, I am using a computer wallet and i am also waiting for the last update of the ios wallet.

I was wondering if when I update the wallet whether I will be able to login with my pin and/or facial recognition as I am currently able to do since I no longer have my mnemonic.

I am sure it will be OK as you are ju st updating the wallet. I did this and it was fine I just used my fingerprint or pin after update. And it was all ok.

Do you have a QR code for back up as this will also help if you do not have the nmenonic pass phrase. If you do try and install the new android app version on another device and restore walett with qrcode and Bingo. If that works then you can do just go ahead and update on first device and follow the procedure then delete the app on second device upto you.
