Issues recovering NEM stake

I'm having some issues recovering my NEMstake.  Wondering if anyone out there can help?

    Here is my situation:

[li]I downloaded the beta NEM client during the asset redemption phase (November 2014) and created an account.  From there I created a "real" NEM address to store my stake in just like the directions said.  I confirmed the public/private key several times to make sure it was valid and backed-up all the information.[/li]
[li]I then transferred my NEMstake to the required address (NXT-97MX-EWKV-CGKX-DA5WH) with a public message including my "real" NEM address.[/li]
[li]A few days later I checked the stakeholders list to make sure the transaction had been recorded and that my address made it onto the stakeholder's list, as was recommended.[/li]
[li]I also updated my NEM beta client in December and confirmed that the "real" address was still valid.[/li]
[li]Since that time I have not really been following closely.[/li]
[li]I just noticed today the launch happened...so I proceeded to see if I could get my stake and put it into my wallet.[/li]
[li]I followed the tutorials on the new website (which looks great btw).  I uninstalled the old beta client and downloaded v.0.6.25.[/li]
[li]I then created a new wallet as explained in the tutorial titled "Important Information & Accessing Your NEM stake".[/li]
[li]Once inside my new wallet I tried to add an existing wallet as described and pull in my NEMstake using the public/private key I made in November.[/li]
[li]The problem is that I get an error message: "Error 124 - The provided password for the address book is not correct."[/li]
[li]I then checked the Final Stakeholders list, and now it would appear that my address/public key are not on the list, even though it was there after my initial asset transfer.[/li]

Did I miss a step along the way??  Not sure if my stake is now gone forever or what happened to it...any ideas to troubleshoot would be welcome.

      Thanks.

I get the feeling you are mixing up public key / private key / wallet password.

You are supposed to create a new wallet with a new secure password. Then you are supposed to import your stake account by using the "Add existing account" feature by entering your private key (from your "real account data" you created some time ago for your future stake account). And to do this you have to enter your wallet password as well.

Please make sure you do these steps right. If you still have problems, come back here.

Also, be sure that you have deleted ALL data from previous installations. Not sure if that is causing the issue here, but it is worth repeating.

THIS ^

Make sure of this and then retry from the start.

@mixmaster - Thanks for clarifying this…I didn't realize it wanted my current wallet password.

The good news is that I was able to add my NEMstake to my new wallet…all the keys match up.

The bad news is that my balance is a big fat zero…

It looks like the blockchain is synchronized and running…any ideas now??  I feel like I followed all the instructions perfectly…

Search for your address at the block explorer and check if your balance is in your account: http://nembex.nem.ninja/#blocks
-> If it is there, you entered the wrong private key to add the account to your wallet.

Update:

[li]So, I've checked the block explorer and my NEMstake account is listed there.[/li]
[li]It shows a status of locked and a balance of zero.[/li]
[li]My address is NOT on the sockmaster list.[/li]

It looks like some others on this forum have also encountered a zero balance when importing there NEMstake.

If my balance is zero and I've never had access to the NEM prior to importing where did it go???

Are you sure you are looking at the right account ?
Many people don't get that after importing your private key you have 2 accounts and one of them will have 0 balance.
This is because you alreardy create an account when creating the wallet. Then you are importing your other account which will hold your stake.
Also make sure you see the address you registered. If you don't see that address then it's not suprising you don't see any XEM.

Yes, I can toggle between the two accounts and both have a zero balance.

The address I imported matches up 100% with the "real" address I created in November and attached to my NEMstake asset transfer.

I'm stumped??

plz share the tx-id for that transfer.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks!

Just to clarify here…I sent a non-valid NEM address during redemption and so I will need to redeem during the extended redemption process?

Thanks!

Yes. Allthough I'm not yet 100% clear on how that'll work for AE redemptions. Prob need to send a message to someone from the same NXT account. I'm sure the announcement will clarify it.

Whew…relieved to know that my NEM is still there.  Thanks for the help!

You will post the announcement in a few days i presume?
