Hi,
Maybe someone has had this problem and have been able to solve it.
I can't get my local node to run when running my wallet, and thus none of my stake nemcoins have showed up.
I first created a first test wallet, and later, a second test wallet, and still nothing. I imported my private key from my original wallet (that I can't access now since the launch since it was only during the testing phase it was available, and worst, no coins from my stake have appeared yet).
I went to poloniex and bought 1000 NEM coins, and sent 100 to my first test wallet, and 102 to my second test wallet, about four hours ago, and I still haven't received the coins in my two test wallets.
Is the main problem that the local node can't boot?
I get this error:
"NIS needs to be booted. Please open your wallet and boot a local node via the popup dialogue or configure the auto-boot setting. (at block 1)"
but in my task bar, it does say NIS is running, and NCC.
I've updated my Java again, NIS runs, and NCC runs, but the local node doesn't want to.
What are the correct settings to get my local node up and running? And are my undelivered NEM coins from my stake safe?
Thanks for any help.
Installer or standalone ? You won't see an icon in the systray while running standalone.
Also the message indicates everything is running and as soon as you login to a wallet it should dissapear.
I have same issue as the OP. (or almost same)
In my tray I have the NEM logo (all 3 sections green) and it says NIS is running (fully synchronized), NCC is running.
Yet when I open my wallet - at the top yellow message bar it says:
NIS needs to be booted. Please open your wallet and boot a local node via the popup dialog or configure the auto-boot setting. (at block 2366)
I have opened and directed 7890 to the PC running the browser wallet.
I have enough NEMs (more than 10k) in 2 transactions - entered wallet this morning from Poloniex (currently more than 10 hours ago) but nothing happens.
Current Balance
XXX,XXX.00 XEM (might be inaccurate, NIS not synchronized yet)
and both transactions states sender ID with no message and confirmations -487 and -482 respectively (have stood like that from the very beginning)
If I try Boot local node (don't know what to enter in Node name? So I try enter what springs to mind.) I get an Oops…
What is wrong?
Cheers

Hi,
I don't see a standalone for Windows, just Linux. Is that right?
Everything I download ends up with the online wallet, and the icon in the tray.
Thanks for any more info.

standalone should work everywhere.

Hi,
"opened and directed 7890" where do you type in 7890?
"all 3 sections green" I've only gotten two sections green, I'm assuming once the local node is booted, all three will be green?
When sending from poloniex, it asks for the receiving address and a message, that's the message you generate at poloniex, right?
It's an odd way off sending transactions, I'm assuming it must be for extra security. Or would any message work?
---
Today, I can't even get into my two test wallets.
I'm getting this message:
"Oops!
Error 128
The address provided is not valid."
I look forward to a Windows standalone wallet. Meanwhile, I hope my stake funds are still alive and well :-)

Hi,
Thanks for the fast reply,
I'll try again.

on my router - port openings

can't make it work either - been trying all day yday and this morning too - I must have opened and closed the wallet 500 times - only a few attempts resulted in a green topbar.. Tried deleting browser history and etc. (IE11) exit and shutdown the taskbar NEM program, reopen wallet, restart PC and so forth, you name it.. Added all related NEM programs to the WIN FW and my virus program - even disabled FW and virus program - and still no luck..
I am now giving up - the NEM client is not working in WINDOWS 8.1 ENT 64bit - at least not mine!
It is too erratic and to me it was pure luck that I had it turn green and in sync!
There is no real tutorial on this forum or youtube or anywhere else I have googled.
It is as if one need to be an insider in order to know how to do this or get qualified instructions.
When going public - even as a beta - there has to be a 100% proven to work tutorial prominently displayed as a link - either youtube, slideshow or other bullet proof walkthrough.
I did stumble over some old posts where they discuss how to edit the config files - but is this really necessary to make it work?
I'm not a complete novice within computing - but this client is making me annoyed.

We're at about 700 downloads and a handfull are complaining about problems like yours. I'd say it's working pretty well there is just a problem on your end which is hard to identify with the information you are giving us.
If you upload your log files (should be in the nem folder in your home folder) then we have way more information to look into.
There is a tutorial section on the officall website that contains 15 tutorials. What else do you want ?
…what else do I want? That's an easy answer: that it runs properly when I want it to…
Anyway when I went to your official site I clicked the big link at the bridge and was scrolled below to install new community client…
Did that and then the issues started.
What I can inform you is that out of curiosity I tried use the NEM Wallet link in my start menu with a Chrome browser and to my surprise that worked - 1st time. After subsequent attempts it didn't run…looks like the NIS is the culprit?
After your hint I went back to the official site and saw that Tutorial link…
Downloaded the windows zip and followed that tut. Tried run the mon batch - it opened up initially (Chrome this time) and worked OK - but after a shutdown and subsequent tries it didn't work.
I then tried to run the ncc and the nis batches first - nis brings up this:
2015-04-02 12:08:46.865 SEVERE Http Status Code 503: NIS_ILLEGAL_STATE_NOT_BOOTE
D (org.nem.core.connect.ErrorResponse <init>)
I'm a bit bewildered as to what to do…
Currently it's like this:
If I use IE, sometimes I'm able to get a green bar at the top - but the blocks are not counting…
If I use Chrome, most times I'm able to get a green bar at the top - and it counts the blocks…
A bit strange that it's this: will it or will it not - X fingers… lol
edit: OK I realize it's a beta so for now I'll live with the bugs I have above
