I had 498 nem coins in my android wallet. I went to create a new account under edit I then hit he red X not knowing it would delete all my coins under my name. Are these coins lost for ever?? this android wallet is confusing. How do I acertain there coins??? please help
X button purge wallet from your device. If you don’t have private key (as plain text or qr code) backup you can’t access again to your coins.
since Im a dummy, can you walk me through the process to where I go to input the key and try to retrieve the coins

First of all are you sure you have backup of your private key (64 or 66 with leading 00 length)? If you did not it before wallet remove you want be able to restore access.
yes I have my private key and the adress on the original transaction I received the coins on
So if you have private key you can import it into nano wallet or mobile wallet.
Mobile wallet:
Add account > Enter key
Nanowallet:
Sign up > Private key wallet
