More label, less account number

Just an idea I am playing around with. I realized that once I have a label, I basically don't look at account numbers any more when scrolling through accounts.

In the NEM client when a person has all their accounts they are all on the left hand corner menu, but once a person has made a label for that account, they no longer need to see the account number but just the label (and maybe the balance).

I do think the account address should still be visible in the address book. I do think that the account that is current active at the top of the client should still show the address, just not the sub addresses.

And I do of course think the

good point jabo.

your pic isnt working though…

that is strange, it works on my computer

I'll post in Telegram

im in college so i guess it could just be the comp im on.. lol

saw the pic on telegram though. really like your idea.. :) its a small change but it makes it less intimidating for new users i think. less confusing for everyone too lol

I can see the picture.

I agree to all changes, but with the amount shown in the address list, I am not sure if this will be kind of laggy, because that information must be fetched from the blockchain when you open the menu. And because people want to see always up-to-date amounts, it has to be fetched every block = every minute.

maybe a tooltip might be better? hover over the acount(label/address) and the balance of the account is shown using a tooltip? that way balance need only be calculated when you hover over it. its a bit more discreet than just displaying the balance 24/7 and less hassle than having to actually enter the acc.

Most of those accounts are hidden 99% of the time so I wonder if it would be okay to just update once the gear icon was clicked. Yeah, it might lag for a second or two, but I'm guessing most of the time those accounts would have the same amount of money in them since the last time they were checked maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it took a couple of seconds to refresh?

Or maybe NEM could like refresh them once an hour in the background in combination with the real time refresh?

I like the hover idea, although people then would need to wait (seconds?) until the amount is fetched.

@jabo: i think it is confusing if you click on the gear symbol and 1 hour old (so possibly wrong) amounts are shown and after some seconds it switches. Will people understand that? I guess not.

@jabo, I completely agree, I would take it one step further though. I think that the label and amount should be condensed, maybe even put the XEM amount and label on the same line, this way 10+ accounts can easily be seen at the same time. I am not too fond of the hover idea though.

I thought about that too and initially that is what I was going to design, but then I had an account with a long name and a big balance and it wouldn't fit.  hahaha
