I'm curious what people's opinions would be of setting up a gateway for nem? I think it would be good to give people the option to use multigateway instead of traditional exchanges.
It would further dilute the concentration of nem on exchanges reducing the risk of a massive sum of nem being stolen in one exchange hack. Supposedly it's not that much work to do bar setting up servers.
There's also the chance that, seeing as its part oof nxt services, we could end up being traded in all coin clients that adopt supernet
@devs
Is this something that could be organised in time for launch?

I'll go out on a limb and say - No way.
I don't think there is even remotely enough time for that. I also don't think its a priority - nice to have at best for launch.
Later on I'm pretty sure we'll do it though. Once things calm down a little.

ok cool, just thought i would ask.
He just said he was closing MGW because of RAM issues. If you have money in there, might be good to pull out.
He wants to focus on Supernet right now and I guess come back to MGW later.

Did not know that. I guess that's what happens if you work on so many projects at the same time. Word about the bad code quality might have also been right then.

That isn't going to go down well with a lot of people in supernet. Trolls will have a field day and it doesn't look good for him to shut down a project..
I hope it is not the start of a domino effect.
I hate to see that happening as it will also affect NEM. We will all be labelled as Mickey Mice attempts at Crypto 2.0

How is this going to effect NEM ? If anything it'll affect NXT as one of their main drivers - allegedly - fucked up.
The MGW will migrate to production servers very soon.
Right now James was maintaining it and warned people to take over but was delayed a couple of times.
This time he said he wants to stop, but like I said; the production servers are almost ready, so MGW will be offline for a couple of days.

Oh, so it was merely a hardware problem ? It be good to get some real information on that and not what people hear from the grape wine :)
Quoting;
For those worried about the MGW, here's good news: https://nxtforum.org/nxtservices-releases/is-this-the-end-of-mgw/msg108614/#msg108614 Looks like production servers are nearly ready to go. This would have BTCD/LTC/BTC back up and running, and not relying on manual intervention from James. Also, I know that a separate team are very close to releasing Blackcoin, Viacoin and Dogecoin onto the MGW. So it's good news for the MGW rather than bad.
