I was reading these 2 articles and was wondering, what should we aim to create as NEM native apps, valuable things which people will only be able to do with NEM?
Absolutely agree that stuff should be created only for NEM (end to end), buying and sell things for NEM instead of having to cross to fiat realm.
The main problem is blockchain bloat. Electrum is a response to this, that made mobile deployment possible, or public nodes that you can issue APIs calls to it. NEM when released will have a lightweight blockchain, but will end up like bitcoin size in a foreseeable future because of apps and services built on top of the chain.
Crowdfunding is a project that I have in mind. It's going to be really easy to create it in a decentralized manner. Although DAO won't ship anytime soon in NEM (>= v1), it's possible with an external service checking the blockchain for modifications, and issuing new messages / payments as the triggers / dates / amounts are filled.
But micropayments are just as important. I was thinking about NFC, which is a great, almost hands-free and secure way to make a payment only when you enable it to do so. Make it communicate with other devices that has it enables you to make payments instant, just need to have the app installed.
Maybe an APP for "translate" money to the user's country currency.
what i am saying?
Example: People could accept digital coins if the money of transaction was directely to their banc account.
Lets say I buy an BlueRay disk player from someone. The person I've bought the equipment could receive my payment directely converted to Us dollars ou euros or curent currency of their country.
As we are an ecosystem, we should think how to make things easier to simple people, for make the crypto more accesible to them.
Thats just an ideia!! Maybe some goods ideias come from other stupid ones
One idea I've had for a use of blockchain technology is for journalists/bloggers/reporters who want cryptographically verifiable records of an event which cannot be altered by any outside source and is publicly available for all to see.
For example, if I am a journalist and I take photos/videos of an event that is happening, it would be neat if the date/time and location of where that photo/video was taken could be automatically stored on the blockchain and through some process be associated with that particular photograph (maybe by hashing a portion of the image/video data or something to turn that into a key of sorts which could then be used to verify the original source via the blockchain).
Then, if I were reading a news article and a photo or video of an event was there, I could take that data and reference the blockchain to verify where and when that video/photo was taken or where/when the article was written to prove its legitimacy and to guarantee that the data has not been altered by any government or otherwise nefarious regime.
Not sure if this is even possible with NEM or any current blockchain technology out there (or if it is even feasible to implement at all) but something like it would be useful I think.

Yes, this is what AltNemo has in mind. You want to build this? There are two parts to this.
Crowdfunding part is easy.
The other part is to build the process workflow from an application to evaluation and some due diligence check points. We could still use the block chain to signify each stage of the evaluation so that the applicant knows where his application is for crowdfunding.
There is also a crowdfunder evaluation process where the funding entity will need to meet some guidelines before one can participate.
I am talking about a solution for a legit crowfunding, not the nxt style of "illegal" crowdfunding where there is no proper mechanism for a real crowdfunding exercise.
This is a centralized operation using a decentralized mechanism. It takes away a lot of the database requirements and security as well. But it is a real world application.
We are no more talking about a coin. ;-)
AltNemo has lots of great ideas. I have been thinking about these ideas for close to two years already. Finally, NEM is coming out with a Crypto 2.0 framework for many more applications that I have in mind. ;)

Yes, this is also an AltNemo application, albeit we shall be doing it slightly different but with the same end result. But it can be as simple as what you have said.
Most complex application may need storage for sharing files or other informations; there are two possible ways:
1) Every app developer uses his own storage for his applications. This approach has all the disadvantages of centralized software.
2) NEM provides distribuited storage for data (files or other informations). This may bloat blockchain with useless stuff.
The choice is not that easy.
Consider as an example Nxt marketplace: developers choose way 2 but obviously they can't fill blockchain with product images, users feedbacks, per country shipping fees, etc…
So Nxt marketplace is a quite unusable application. People started using forums for these purpouses but there is no integration between forums and marketplace. The result is a mess IMHO.
On the other side, most crypto users probably would have considered inacceptable a centralized marketplace controlled by just one subject.
There is another possibility, more difficult to develop but better: a distribuited storage separated from blockchain. Every user could receive a little reward for making disponible some storage space and everyone who wants to share something has to pay a little fee.
The idea is not new and still in place: http://storj.io/
Adding such a feature would make NEM the best infrastructure for app developers.

Let the show begin!! PM me your email and I will send you some "specifications" how they want this to be done. See if we can work out something for this.
NXT just got an iphone app. looks nice.
