Need help importing old keypair made with the vanity address generator

Over a year ago I created a private key with a vanity keygenerator. It was a (Java?) command line tool I found on this forum. I still have the private + public key. I tried importing the private key in the mobile app, but when I do this, it shows a different public key in my address, with 0 XEM…

I wonder if the tool I used back then just didn’t work correctly, or if something else changed and I still have a chance to recover my funds. Maybe the private/public key structure changed recently? Maybe the keygenerator made me encrypt the key? If so I need to find a way to decrypt it (I’m sure about what password I would have used…)

Any other ideas?

Try importing the private key into nano. If the public key is the same as when impoting it into the mobile app, then the vanity generator tool is probably wrong.

Ok, solved by appending a ‘0’ to the private key… It took me a while to notice the key was a character short (the android app just accepted it and the desktop client download link is not working).

I have some other private keys that I never used, created with the same tool and all a character short… If anyone else runs into this problem and can get their funds back thanks to this message, please consider a small donation:
