NEM Beta 0.6.79

As some of you might have already noticed we have a new release.

Planned fee changes are postponed to one of subsequent releases.

  1. Reduced memory footprint by reorganizing how node experiences are exchanged.
  2. Fixed bug in scheduler which could make scheduled tasks stall.
  3. Issue discovered by @Quantum_Mechanics (and possibly someone else earlier), details will be disclosed at a later date.

Upgrade is mandatory.

If you’re using the installer make sure to stop running ncc and nis before running the installer!

NEM requires Java 8
Remember installer requires 64-bit java
You can download java from official page: http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

You can start NCC and NIS with an installer from the following link: http://bob.nem.ninja/installer/
Standalone version: http://bob.nem.ninja/

0.6.79 doesn’t contain Lightwallet. What are plans about Lightwallet?

Since the time lightwallet has become standalone, it wasn’t supposed to be included in nis builds… the fact that it was in few recent releases was our mistake.
You shouldn’t trust lightwallet that you’re not serving, that’s why decision to remove it from nis.

Thx! Some more questions:
a) Now is work with Lightwallet safe through any NIS?
b) Can I get the private key from the Lightwallet password? ‘BrainWallet to Priv Key Generator’ doesn’t work for me.
c) Is this method working? I tried without success.

Hi

I’ve updated to this release on testnet and now I’m stuck on block 572684.

When I start NIS i get following messages in log

In testnet explorer I see leading nodes at height 574320 with version 0.6.80, but I couldn’t find it.
Is there a way to check version 0.6.79 on testnet?

yup, testnet needs NIS 0.6.80 which is not released for testnet yet. Currently only clients like NanoWallet are under test in testnet.

I was using Lightwallet on Supernode and only saved my wallet name and the passphrase. What’s the best way to retrieve my Private key now? (Lightwallet not avail. anymore)

Can I use e.g. http://bip32.org or is there a Linux openssl command for deriving from passphrase?
… (The Standalone Lightwallet seems to be available only for Windows users these days, according to here)

BTW: The experimental Nano wallet is connected to the Testnet only. Right?

what kind of wallet have you been using? brain wallet? (screenshot would be appreciated)

currently lightwallet does not display your private key, but this could easily be added.
