I Downloaded the Nem Client page ad i could not get the Lite version of the wallet to run. I cannot see how i make a back file of my address and private key. In the lite version the instructions look simple but the client is not that user friendly.
Hi everyone. I have just opened a NEM wallet (with my macbook air).
This will probably be very basic for most of you but I am stuck at the “backup wallet” stage.
I would like to back up my account on a new travel drive.
When I open the download link from the download folder, I am presented with “this link needs to be opened with an application”. I have no idea what application will open a “.wlt” extension.
Can someone explain how, from this stage, I can get my wallet saved to a travel drive?
BTW, I have watched the video from youtube on how to download and save, however, it appears to be done on a PC and in Spanish (not a major deterrent).
The wallet that you used to create the backup is the application that will be able to open the ‘.wlt’ file. Save this ‘wlt’ file to your external drive.
There is no difference between a ‘backup’ file, and your regular wlt file. When you make a backup, all the wallet does, is make a copy of your ‘.wlt’ file, and place it in the Downloads folder.
Hi Saul. Thanks for the reply! I have moved the .wlt file to the travel drive.
When I tried to open it from the travel drive, I got the following message: “There is no application set to open the document “Mangster’s wallet.wlt”.” Are you saying that nothing further is needed to backup my wallet on the travel drive? Forgive my lack of tech ability, but what happens now? How do I get my coins to the travel drive?
I’ll look around the site to see if I can get some help. Thank-you!
I believe you want to open it by nano wallet, using import wallet option:
and then open your walet file .wlt
You need the ‘.wlt’ file, and the password you use to log in to your account.
