NEM Wallet on Mac Private Key error

Hello, looking for some assistance setting up wallet on Mac.
Have downloaded desktop wallet from Wallets - NEM
But when I try setup a new wallet and input private key I keep getting error “Provided Private Key is not valid”.
Is there a specific format the Private Key needs to follow, appreciate any guidance with this.

Is your private key 64 length hexadecimal?

thanks, what I decided to to was create a simple wallet and it self generated the key, I tried an 96decimal key but now that you mention it should have tried that too.
