Still unable to resolve the problem. Not even sure its Avast firewall cause when I disable it now, it does not work again. Should I upload my logs again?
What’s the status. It doesn’t start? Have you changed the config as described?
Can you upload the NIS config.properties and NIS logs?
Still unable to fix it. The situation is still the same. When I launch NEM wallet, both NIS and NCC start and after a few seconds NIS shuts down.
I cannot change the config as described cause in nis folder I have only 2 subfolders: data and logs. No config.properites file.
Here is the log, always shows the same.

Help pls.
The config file is in a subfolder of the installation folder. If you installed into folder x then there should be a x\nemwallet\nis folder with the config.properties.
Ok, NIS is running and synchronized, all 3 fields green. However, NCC still shows the message “NIS is not available” and it is marked red.
Here is the log.

Thx for your help BloodyRookie, I really cannot understadn why this happens only to me.
So did you change the config or solve the problem another way?
With regards to NCC, how do your setting look like? I mean the setting you can access in the browser page.
I have followed your instructions:
nem.host = put ip you have here
nis.ipDetectionMode = Disabled
Settings re:
HTTP protocol, host 79.19.252.124 (a node from the explorer) and use default port - 7890.
The NIS log looks just as bad as before. How come you got 3 green fields?
To tell u the truth, it does look like something related to Avast Firewall. What is the name of the file I should be set up as an exception?
All other wallets I use re clearly marked in Avast. NEM wallet, I cannot find at all.
That means you are using a remote NIS, it doesn#t matter if you run a local nis in that case
It is a node in italy. Depending on your location another node might be more responsive. May I ask you where you are located?
Aside from that, can you send me the config.properties and the nis log (i hope you restarted NIS after changing the config)?
Italy is the closest node to me. When I completely shut down my Avast firewall, I get green message of NIS being sync. So, I guess the way to go would be to set up NEMwallet as an exception for the firewall scan. The problem is I do not know what file to add as an exception. For all of my other wallets, Avast clearly marks it, for example Holdcoin gui or similar. With NEM, just isnt there, I guess it s due to remote NIS. Should I try to add http://127.0.0.1/ as an exception? If you have any other suggestion, pls let me know cause I cannot keep firewall off all the time. I m sure thousands of NEM holders also use AVAST, how come I m the only one having this issue is a mystery to me.
Thx
You should make Java an exception.
Allowed Java in/out traffic as a default rule. Still does not work. No point my friend, I guess it simply does not work with Avast Firewall. I guess I ll have to give up on NEM. If there s someone here from the dev team, I guess you should contact Avast to resolve this issue.
BloodyRookie, thx a lot on your help, u ve been EPIC.
I am from the dev team ^^
Can you paste an image of your firewall rule?
Also does that firewall replace the (windows) original firewall?
Do you have more than one Java version on your computer (you might have then configured the rule for the wrong java.exe file)
Aside from that, I am pretty sure that Avast just will say you configured the firewall in a wrong way. There is nothing special about the NEM software.
It s not a rocket science, I ve set up Java to allow all connections for all networks.

When I shut down Avast firewall, windows firewall does not generate any issues. In other words, when I shut down Avast firewall, everything works fine. I repeat, this is out of the box Avast rule, I have not touched it since I ve installed it 2 years ago besides regular updates. Why this happens to me, no idea?
Why java web launcher, that has nothing to do with NCC. It should be java.exe.
All java Platform binaries are under the same exception as you can see on the first jpg. They re all set up the same way as that web launcher. Like this:

It just does not work. No idea what to do next besides changing AV which I will not do until this one expires.
Hmm…Maybe the people from a AV forum can help?
I bump into this issue as well.
Log: SEVERE something really bad happened: java.util.concurrent.CompletionException: java.lang.IllegalStateException: network boot failed (org.nem.nis.NisMain b)
It works fine at my home computer, this is the company’s computer lol, probably they have their own firewall policy etc somehow blocking NIS.
You should be careful. In some companies this is a reason to fire employees.
