“NIS won’t run”, does it mean the NIS process exits?
Yeah, I loginto wallet, and it says NID not available, I click on icon in taskbar and ‘start NIS’ and just does nothing and says NIS not running
I wrote a reply but it was flagged?
Posts were flagged because two different users logged in from the same IP.
Messages really shouldn’t have been flagged. I tried to unflag them but wasn’t exactly sure how to do it and not sure if I can now, but for next time I’ll know.
Messages are the following.
ok, in that case it looks like NIS cannot start properly. My guess would be that your database is broken. But I can only confirm this if you can supply the NIS logs. The are located in the folder c:\users\YourUser\nem\nis\logs on windows. The most recent log (look at the date) is sufficient. Alternatively you can just delete the database located in the folder c:\users\YourUser\nem\nis\data and sync from scratch. In either case replace the “YourUser” with the user name in your system.
Thankyou very kindly, I found the logs I am on OSX and new to Apple laptops heh

Thankyou for the assistance
I am rebuilding the database now so hopefully it will work, Will I need to reset the harvesting feature?
Attempting the harvesting broke the wallet use for me, it may just be coincidence? I am unsure, I haven’t used a wallet like XEM’s before
Your posts got flagged again
Luckily, since i have already replied once, i got an email with your answer.
The log you supplied is from mid of February, so it is not the most recent. But it shows that your database is broken. Please delete the database and resync from scratch. You can speed up the process by downloading a partial db from bob:
bob.nem.ninja/nis5_mainnet.h2.db.zip
Put that unzipped db into the folder where the old db resided. Then start NIS and let it sync the rest of the blocks.
sorry you were flagged @ETH6A , discourse doesn’t like people creating multiple accounts from the same IP, your posts should be unflagged now, let me know if you have any issues posting
Everything was going along just smoothly for 28 or so hours, and then this: NIS not available. Have no idea what to do. Have tried closing my wallet and rebooting, but still the same issue. Any advice? Keep in mind that I don’t know all the programming jargon & abbreviations. (I doubt it makes a difference, but I’m using a Macbook Pro with latest OSX.)
Disregard my previous post. I saw this was addressed in the Troubleshooting section and was, surprisingly, able to figure out what was wrong.
