Hi,
can't we do a node reward like this:
The delegated harvester can choose a node, where he wants to harvest.
But those nodes require a fee, that is a customizable percentage of the harvested coins.
The percentage is depending on the number of nodes and the market will find the amounts itself.
The payment can be done via smart contract.
Offering the node for a harvester is a service that could be payed, isn't it?
Edit:
To activate nodes we could create a delegated harvesting account on every registered node with a certain amount of (curently unused) xem and pay 100% of the harvested coins to it.
And to get fairly rid of the prepared node reward coins we can just send them around and create transaction fees, until they are gone…

We need more nodes and nodes that nobody is harvesting on are also valuable especially if they have a good connection and performance in gernal.
Also I wouldn't wanna wait until smart contracts come to start with this.

I think the logical end game is that when/if we have thousands of mobile users, they will be willing to pay small amounts to the nodes to harvest for them.
As Pat suggested, smart contracts could come in handy where they could regulate the split between the mobile user and the node operator.
