I bought some XEM at the 21st of June and got a vested balance over 10.000 since two days. Right now I’m at ~13k. My importance status is 0.7 ‱. I believe this should be enough to harvest, but my NIS log keeps saying “Account … not yet allowed to generate a block.”. When will I be allowed to generate a block?
I’m harvesting locally on a VPS thats always on.

the message only tells you that at the specific time the account is not allowed to create a block because it has not yet a socalled hit. Basicly the message ensures that the account is trying to harvest and that means your vested balance is large enough.
Aside from that, with 13k xem you will have to wait very long to get a hit. An account with 3M xem has about 5 hits a day.
Remember that there are only 1440 block per day and a lot of accounts are harvesting already.
I think you can get at least 1 block a week. Please report back how often you find one. Sadly, many blocks are also empty, so that can be a problem, but it is also possible that you can add to your stack. I had a block yesterday with 650 XEM in it as a reward!

I dont harvest to be profitable (if that’s even possible). If I dont harvest anything, that’s fine. I’ve got the VPS with XEM running anyway. If I earn little amounts, it’s a nice (extra) interest besides the investment in XEM itself 
I’ll report back whenever I have some harvesting results to share.

As you’ve mentioned, most block are (unfortunately) empty. That’s okay, I’m still having an interest rate of .8% in just half a month, thats twice the amount my bank gives my in a year
My importance is .59% (was .69% on the 1st of july). This is decline is probably due to more people vesting, which is a good thing. Go NEM!

Importance is a 0 sum game. So how I act can make your account’s POI go up or down. Likewise, you act can make my account go up or down, but of course the most important action for making POI go up or down is how your account transacts.
But basically, the more people that are getting their accounts vested, the higher their POI will go, which means others have to have their POI lower.
