One-click observations

Good evening all,

I hope this is read as constructive criticism and from the perspective that I appreciate the hard work the devs have put into the app so far.

My observations are based on running the one-click client on Windows 8.1 Update and IE11 running as standard user (not local admin)

[li]If after starting NEM Community Client from the shortcut on the desktop IE creates a new tab. If IE is subsequently closed the "natural" action would be to click on the NEM Community Client on the desktop again. The outcome is that Java and NIS are already running but the one-click app appears to try and start new instances and this does work well (NCC doesn't start).[/li]
    >> Could one click check to see if NIS is already running and if so just open a tab to localhostĀ  port ?

[li]If running NIS on a laptop and the laptop sleeps / hibernates the NIS database appears quite sensitive to corruption, this has happened to me on three of four occasions.).[/li]
      >> Could NIS have some additional checkpoints and / or self healing?

[li]The one-click application often (for me at least) doesn't always initiate a launch of IE to display NCC (trying to determine a pattern)[/li]

How should NCC / NIS and Java be gracefully shutdown?

That's for taking the time to write this up.

>> Could one click check to see if NIS is already running and if so just open a tab to localhostĀ  port ?

I guess you mean NCC ? IIRC that behaviour should already be implemented.

>> Could NIS have some additional checkpoints and / or self healing?

Does this happen randomly for you or only when there are new realses and the client has been updated ?

>> How should NCC / NIS and Java be gracefully shutdown?

Right now there is no gracefull way. There is only the Taskmanager. However this is of course an issue the devs are aware of.

I'm continuing to have issues with NIS and NCC. The latest issue appears to be that NIS is die-ing while NCC is running. NIS isn't downloading blocks and the Boot Node keeps showing as ungrayed (e.g NIS not started). Is it possible to run NIS interactively with the one click installer to see what is going on?
