Open Alpha Starts Now

when I try to create a new wallet it says "failed to create configuration file"

I've never used MAC before, but I use Linux.

Isnt there any file restriction ( owner, only read aplication...), from where you are running the aplication?

On windows, it works where you start the aplication. That means: I run it on downloads, it get the complete client on downloads. I run on my docs... it get the complete client on my docs.

Good luck

I play around with Windows, Ubuntu, and Mac, but I am not really a master at any. hahahaha.  Mac and Linux are more a like.  As far as I know there isn't a problem with the file restrictions.  It seems to me that maybe I have old versions that weren't deleted before new ones were installed, or maybe some other way things got jumbled up.  Not really sure.

Can you try deleting accounts_cache.json?

Another weird problem. I cleared all the java cache and everything related to NEM in the Java console. I also deleted all the files except the wallet file.
After that I installed the client agian. Everything was installed and it synchronised. Now when I login today, it doesn't have any wallet? I have a copy of my wallet but when I paste it and start the NCC, It shows "Oops, Failed to save configuration file"??
I deleted everything and repeated the clearing process. It synchronised again. I shutdown my PC and restart it. Again the NCC doesn't have my wallet?
It is time consuming to do all over again.

I'm in the same boat.

Tried the fix multiple times with no result…just showing 'NIS is not available'

Deleted everything, wallet file included and still the same result only now it shows 0 wallets.  Hurrah!

I'd not thought through that there wasn't an option to input the name and passcode…hmmm.

Does this mean you'd be buggered if you were hoping to access your wallet on a different pc?

Or is the lack of availability to input your details solely due to 'NIS is not available' which is haunting me…?

Answers on a postcard to…

Are you using config file from previous version?

Please try deleting the accounts_cache.json file. There is a bug in 0.2.4 that is causes this file to be incompatible on upgrade. Sorry.

As for troubleshooting NIS errors, we are hoping to add some additional diagnostic tools to NCC in one of the next releases.

C:/users/user/Nem

Just dont delete the .wlt file.

For me, worked after an: windows key + R --> cmd

javaws -viewer (here, delete the java client cache and press ctrl + alt + del and delete the java's process, except java update.

;)

The message is supposed to come. But it's also supposed to go away after about 10-20 seconds depending on your machine. Is it never dissapearing for you ?

For me it takes about 4 minutes (amd 8150 8 cores, 16GB Ram, R9 290, W8.1 and java 8 u11).

Maybe I have to wait all this time because Avast ativirus scanning

It takes about 4 - 5 mins on my system as well, quad core 4gb of ram on laptop.

Sure it takes longer if you count the initial install when you start if the first time...that depends a lot on your connection obviously. 10 - 20 seconds is just the startup.
Even with install it doesn't take longer than a min for me though.

Every time i turn the client off for 7hrs or more it takes around 4mins for NIS to boot up for me,  you have to keep in mind the various hardware people have as well as connection speeds vary a lot. This is something that the devs need to keep in mind,  just because it runs fast for you doesn't mean it will run fast for everyone.

Perhaps your NIS is synchronizing with the network?
We need it to be responsive when synchronizing too. Over time it will require more and more.

Pretty sure snapshoting is planned. Will be after-launch though as J stated in another thread.
