I am no native english speaker and it is very hard for me to understand the details. I tried it for 1 hour now… 
Do you have a link where it is explained a little bit simpler/more structured? Maybe a blog or some article?
I read about this a while ago and it appeared that the solution was all too scratchy (some 3 months ago). I am not sure about what the status is now as, apparently, they have re-written (or re-writing) the entire code.
Have a look at factom.org as well. I am not sure if they are incorporating open transactions into their core design. The concept is pretty much the same.
There is also hyperledger using the Byzantine fault tolerance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byzantine_fault_tolerance).

It is a very interesting and exciting concept.
I find it kind of funny that he knocked Ethereum so hard. He is saying his hypothetical program is better than their hypothetical program.
The thing that impresses me is a real program, not a hypothetical one. It is all nice and easy for somebody to say that their dream reality is better than my real one.
NXT right now is working on Monetary system, instant transactions, Supernet and lots of other features. Seems to me it will be doing about the same thing as OT promises.
As for NEM, it looks like we are 11 months behind NXT, but I think we have a lot going for us. There are lots of other 2.0s coming out right now and I wish we were first (to be second) but I am hopeful that we will be the best. I do think our narrative is better and that playing catch up is always easier than the original innovation. We also have the foresight of seeing where they made mistakes and and not making them and doing it right, which in the long run if we can get over the first mover advantage makes us stronger because we have a better foundation. With NXT, this might be possible because so many people were not on board and hated NXT in the first place. In the same way Stellar is giving Ripple a legitimate challenge, I think NEM can bring a lot to this area of the crypto world.
