I’m on the latest OSX wallet and having sync problems. i may have a very old DB, nodelist or something since i installed an earlier wallet a long time back.
where is the db stored? i’d like to erase it. also, is there a nodes list? or is that remote? lastly, is there a wallet.dat? i want to be sure i dont mess with that.
If you have a very old version you should upgrade before doing anything else.
I have the latest version. What I mean is that I think I previously had

files that are causing my problems with the new wallet?
Potentially. Try removing everything (http://blog.nem.io/how-to-remove-old-nem-software-versions/) and then insall again.
Make sure you have a backup of your wallet/priv-key
I don’t think the wallet ever got incompatible because of a new version.
I have my private key but just to be sure since you say "wallet/priv-key"
is there anything other than my private key that I need to back up?
you need to backup your .wlt (wallet) and your .adb (address book)
it should be under
macintosh HD > Users > username > nem > ncc >

i’ll copy those files, then place them back in after the new install.
