I've been trying to mull over ways to make NEM simpler to the average person so as to improve adoption. In the UK Paym has recently launched and this allows me to register my phone and link it to my bank account. I can then send and receive using phone numbers. Could this be possible in NEM and avoid the banks? Could I link a phone number to a NEM address?

if you are at your computer and you want to send an email, then you could just use the NEM client. In the future it will be easier to use.
and if you are on mobile, someday we will have an app. it is in the very early stages now of being designed 
I agree that you can do it this way but how to reach the general population, how do we make NEM more relevant? It has to be easier to use than it is at the moment (some goes for all crypto) Many more people have a phone number or email address so hence I was thinking if these could be used as part of NEM in the same way as M-Pesa and PayM
