Question regarding to the NEM wallet

When using a local NIS server, I think that it is better to update NIS only to 0.6.93.
Since chain synchronization may fail, there is a possibility of making something bad for NCC.

Try to the following procedure:
1st download the latest NCC from here https://bob.nem.ninja/last-ncc/nis-ncc-0.6.91.zip
2nd unpack the NCC
3rd open your consle on windows with start -> run -> type “cmd” -> press enter
4th change to the folder of NCC
5th type runNcc.bat press enter
now you shold se some output in console

Let me know it this works for you.
To access the ncc type in you browser address bar http://127.0.0.1:7890
This should open the ncc in your browser.

I’ve lost 16k NEM by using their wallet as it’s not fit for purpose. Unfortunately, because it’s decentralised and not a real company, unlike a bank if there’s an issue you can’t ring up a help desk. A lot of people don’t understand this, its dangerous using their wallet and you have zero come back. When its gone its gone. Search NEM issues on YouTube for my issue you can clearly see is their fault. It’s a common issue as well, loads of people have lot money this way. I’ve got no where with NEM in 6 months. They don’t care its ‘decentralised’ so they cant do anything. I sent Bitcoin from Trezor to a Poloniex Bitcoin Cash address and they could reverse the transaction. This is an exchange helping me. NEM cant do this, even though its their address. Until NEM sort out their issues I cant see it going anywhere. Be careful, you can store other coin more safely. They have also told me to take down the video, seems weird

@Conor_Clancy give us a break and do backups.

I’m using a mac operating system, I don’t know to use the console on mac.

I tried both 0.6.93 and 0.6.91. No luck

With 0.6.93 I received this message Error: Could not find or load main class org.nem.deploy.CommonStarter
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.nem.deploy.CommonStarter

Under 0.6.91 It started to run in terminal but in the end I received 2017-12-09 17:26:47.720 INFO NEM Deploy 0.6.91-BETA shutdown… (org.nem.deploy.CommonStarter bootAndWait)

For me 0.6.91 run without any errors on Windows machine.

Problem you describe is same as here NCC is stopped - localhost refused to connect - please check if this works for you. Before you remove file mentioned please copy it somewhere because I’m not sure if it’s contain important data or not. Instruction tells about location in Windows but on Mac should be something similar (nem/ncc)

I tried to search for the document accounts_cache_mainnet.json, couldn’t find it

And did you localized your nem/ncc catalog? I suggest you to try on other computer maybe.

I have tried on my windows laptop, didn’t see the file accounts_cache_mainnet.json.

@tomorrowcoin You have same problem when running NCC on windows ?

@tomorrowcoin: can you supply the ncc / nis logs ?

@ColinRossMiller
Please tell us what problems you have. Did you get wallet from this official page?
https://nem.io/downloads/
If yes please tell us which link and which browser did you use?
Thank you

the website page
https://nem.io/downloads/

let me attempt to download zip file but then failed to complete - and tried seven times.

NanoWallet-1.4.13.zip\NanoWallet-1.4.13 - ZIP archive, unpacked size 10,404,002 bytes

Then kept searching online saw:

https://github.com/NemProject/NanoWallet/releases/download/1.4.13/NanoWallet-1.4.13.zip

it worked. Now I need to find excange to buy XEM, to geta “key” to finish setting up the NEM wallet.

Im new to this so learning as I go.

Most exchanges such as ZAIF.jp only accepy JPY or Bitcoin as payment,

I used chrome (windows OS)

since finding out about NEM only last night Im not the only one with difficulties to begin buying XEM.

If people who live and breathe algorithms, computational mathematics, and web technologies have a problem with buying/selling crytocurrenies, then what hope has a layperson got?

Remember DOS - then came Windows friendly interface, the rest is history.

Why is the cryptospace so darn hard to navigate, its full of SharKs just waiting to FleeCe (steal) the Unwary
punter who wants to get into Cryptocurrencies. Its a minefield right now.

@ColinRossMiller list of available exchanges you have on nem.io page:

Please look also at:

If you have problems please ask. Changelly, Poloniex, Bittrex, Spectrocoin.com are probably best choices depends on if you want buy for btc or fiat currency (usd, euro).
