I am having a lot of trouble trying to start a new stand alon client to recover my XEM. Am I also able to recover an old wallet using the desktop client in some way?
Do you have your private key address to recover your XEM? With your password you can recover your account if you have your .wlt backup file.
I have the private key. but cannot find a wlt file. When I tried making another one to test, safari won’t download a wlt. file. its just “unknown”
with Mac and safari am I able to just make another Nano wallet and enter the private key?
Yes of course. If you download nano there’s a sign up option called “private key wallet”, you only need your private key to recover it.

OK great, got it back. but now when I try to make a backup, all it does is download a file called “unknown”. Is there another way to backup the file?
