Is there a way to reset the password on an existing account?
I have a private/wallet setup but wanted to harden the password some.

Do I need to purge first then resetup the wallet again with a new password?

i am not sure but you can easly open up the simple one and transfer your wallet, maybe @mizunashi can answer you this better.

Currently NanoWallet does not have the function to change the password.
Mobile wallet can be changed.

For the mobile wallet, the password itself is used for control that can not be accessed merely, and to encode the secret key that is encrypted and stored.

But in NanoWallet, passwords are more complicated in account creation.
For this reason, we are not prepared to change just the password.

To recreate your password with NanoWallet, you need to recreate your wallet.

Create a private key wallet with the backed-up private key.
Since we keep the address as it is, we do not need to move assets.

However, even if you use the same secret key, you change the Remote account by changing the password.
If you are using Remote account features, you need to deactivate Remote account with previous Wallet and activete with newly created account.

thanks

Thanks for the responses.

How is a private wallet more secure than a brain wallet, if they both just require a password to login?

If it was Simple Wallet that generated the secret key first, creating the secret key wallet does not change the strength of the secret key itself.

I will explain why brain wallet is not safe.

Assume that the password is “1”.
At this time, the following wallet will be created. This is a decision.

ADDR: NAVRPSD2YHC3GZYRS6IWUOXI4DN4NH3EE235JQ6F
Public key: 60872c4f66607703c1d1515d0a83b81634668074d69c0afb1a6291d083ad25a2
Private key: 76026b04f1994d79577cdaef896e78885cf1c3d06135d787100eb4d3e176fc21

In this way, it is a feature of Brain wallet that hacking is done without touching the secret key of the opponent.
Hackers continue to generate these using a variety of passwords.

Simple wallet makes a secret key based on a very long random number created on the spot regardless of the password.
Mathematically, a strong secret key is created enough to say that it is much inpossible that the same secret key will be created.
And the secret key created is password - independent.

So, I will explain what simple wallet password is.

After creating the wallet, we will back up the wlt file and private key.

In the wlt file, an encrypted secret key is contained.
We use a password to solve this cipher.

Also, the backed-up secret key is a very dangerous thing that is not encrypted.
Therefore, we ask you not to save to the place to be hacked.
And within the NanoWallet there is always a secret key encrypted with a password.

That is, a hacker or an unauthorized program intrudes into the PC.
Then it is accessed to the encrypted secret key.
In such a situation, the password is reliant.
Analysis of the password here leads to de facto loss of funds.

I think that the example of Simple Wallet in the second half is probably close to the image of actual hacking.

If you briefly explain Brain Wallet, it means “Do not use”.
Brain wallet should be recognized as a sophisticated option for those who are familiar with security, for whatever reason.

Moreover, although it does not touch here, if it is a simple wallet, it does not mean that a simple password is good, so I think that you should be aware.

Thanks
