Some security questions about NanoWallet v 2.0.14

During installation of the Nano wallet I’ve got a private key that I copied in a text editor and stored on a USB device same as the .wlt file wallet backup. But now I hear hackers are able to read the text file or malware can read text files out or read out the computers memory to steal your private key. So won’t it be more save to write the private key on a paper and not copy and paste it into a text file. Then another question is. The wallet is stored in my browser for a few months already now, and today I read in the best security practices that after using the wallet one should logout and purge the wallet in local storage using the purge button on the right side of the footer. And for two months I didn’t do that so I’m afraid my wallet is vulnerable now. Should I create a new account and a new wallet now for safety reasons? Then as best security practice I don’t copy and paste my private key into a text file but instead write it down on a paper. And after use of the wallet every-time I purge the wallet in local storage.

It depends on how often you need to transaction. If only couple in year importing wallet should be no problem. When hacker get access to wlt file they need to know also password so is not so bad (if it’s not simple) . Each time when you want use wallet you can import to nanowallet wlt file from usb device, provide password and after you have done purge wallet from computer. Paper backup with your 64 sign private key is always good idea because other source of private key in case of usb demage is necessary.
If you are not sure if someone stole your wallet already you can create new one and send funds there.
Also when you need only check balance you don’t need import wallet, just check in explorer.ournem.com.
