NIS runs perfectly fine, this is not about the log content, but only about how the characters are displayed.
Btw: This is on a screen which is physically connected to a cubie board 3. But other terminals don't have this issue and when system logs are displayed between NIS logs, they are displayed fine as well. This makes me think it is not a cubie board / debian 7 related problem, but its coming from NIS. But I have no idea…

lol, this is due to some guys doing "tests", and setting all the funny international characters in node name.
I guess we'll need to filter that when displaying on the screen.
Seriously? And that even has impact on how the time stamp is displayed? (zeo is broken e.g.)
