Hi
I'm pleased to be part of this project, having seen early mutterings and rumours and the slow build of momentum. I have bought into it via the Nxt AE and hold the equivalent of 500,000 NEM.
However, I am not the most technically adept person in the world, and I am sure there are many like me involved in this - Getting Nxt wallet to work was an achievement…!
When it all goes live, will their be an idiot proof installer etc? Ease of use should be a high priority if you want people to embrace the system…
It seems with some of the more complicated methods of installation and running, that with an incorrect keystroke here or there, you could wipe yourself out completely. Even if this isn't the case, it is sometimes how it feels and the more nervous people feel, the less likely they are to get involved, IMHO.
Just a thought.
Cheers
WN
I have, just now…
this is sort of what I mean.
3 attempts to load the right ( I think?) version of Java.
click to open NCC…it sits at 56% for a short while then closes without word or warning…
No Idea…

Thank you for your feedback. It is certainly important that we have feedback from users like you who are not so tech savvy.
The developers who frequent this forum will surely read what you have just mentioned and do something about it.
Edit: Did you manage to get it up finally?
No
Java assures me I have the most up to date version downloaded now.

The above link starts a process 'downloading NCC' which opens and hangs at 56% before closing and doing nothing.
baffled.

Go to this page and download the Java in the link provided. You need java 8. I presume you are on windows 7 or 8?

There appears to be five to choose from…
As I said.
I'm finding 'this' complicated…I have a dog in this fight so I want to press on. To a complete outsider with a little interest, how long would they keep at it before thinking 'screw it, what's on tv?'
Holy Balls!
It's just started working…
No idea how or why…
ARRRRG
;D

Choose this Windows x86 Online.
One of the biggest issues right now is that Java 8 isn't officially supported yet. So when only considering official versions Java 7 would be the most recent and your System would be right in that regard.
Once Java 8 is officialy supported webstart will not only detect that you're running an older Version of Java but also direct you to the CORRECT downoad page, not the wrong one as I think it is now.
Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this other than provide a download link for Java 8.
The nice thing about Webstart is though that updating practically happens without you even noticing. You'll always have the most recent release of the client without ever needing to manually download anything.
Thanks for the input and help. Gratefully received…
Is there a date set for this to go live? It looks superb!
