hi, the recent discussion about the silver made me think about how difficult it will be to let the community decide something. we will have a hughe community fund, shouldnt a build in voting solution be necessary?
It will be necessary and is planned. Difficult to implement though because you have to find ways to both incentivice voting and deter spam.

+1 for a voting system based on PoI. For now that makes sense.
The NXT system is suppose to be more versatile. When a person makes a poll, they can vote by weighted stake. Or they can give one vote per account that has a minimum balance or has a certain asset. I have to say that I have examined NXT over and over again and their voting function is actually the first feature that they are implementing that I actually agree with how they did it. One great thing that they are going to do is integrate it with multisig. This the first time that NXT is doing a cross feature function. It is sooooo important to intertwine as many features as possible. A vote that just gives a person a tally is okay, but a vote that once polled could create an asset or destroy the asset, or release money, or release an asset, or send out messages, or freeze an account, could work with some other general smart contract, or even lots of these things in combinations, would put a lot of muscle into NEM.
