Thanks for help with NIS on Mac OSX (managed somehow)

  (edit)
Thanks all who helped! (see last post)
I'm afraid I'm not quite sure what eventually did it, couple of ideas in last post below,  but anyway I'm up and running on a Macbook both on OSX and Linux.  Thanks again
(end edit)

crossposted for visibility as launch tomorrow, thanks!

Hi I had some success with everyone's help previously by booting into Linux Mint on a USB Live stick on my Mac, just trying to get things going on Mac OSX & still having trouble.  Have downloaded latest client by standalone installer, definitely have Java 8 working or I think so, since java -version gives :
java version "1.8.0_40"
Java™ SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_40-b27)
Java HotSpot™ 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.40-b25, mixed mode)

NCC working fine, can make and open wallet, have verified address, private and public key, but at top of wallet getting persistent error message on yellow background:
No remote NIS found in the network, disconnected from internet? (at block 1)

I've reviewed the NIS log - link here: http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/479688/nembot%20NIS%20log%20March%2030.docx
It seems these are the two error messages:

2015-03-30 19:18:35.925 WARNING Could not acquire exclusive lock to lock file (org.nem.core.deploy.CommonStarter <clinit>)

and then later:

2015-03-30 19:18:45.128 SEVERE Stopping Jetty Server.
org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'nisAppConfig': Injection of autowired dependencies failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Could not autowire field: private org.nem.nis.k.xq org.nem.deploy.appconfig.NisAppConfig.iw; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.UnsatisfiedDependencyException: Error creating bean with name 'hx' defined in URL [jar:file:/Users/new/Desktop/package/nis/nem-infrastructure-server__V0.5.19-BETA.jar!/org/nem/nis/k/hx.class]: Unsatisfied dependency expressed through constructor argument with index 0 of type [org.hibernate.SessionFactory]: : Error creating bean with name 'flyway' defined in class path resource [org/nem/deploy/appconfig/NisAppConfig.class]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is org.flywaydb.core.api.FlywayException: Unable to obtain Jdbc connection from DataSource

then on for several pages about beans  :-X which doesn't help me much.

I know you guys are all super busy but any ideas?  Couldn't get things running on Mint either yesterday so thought I'd concentrate on Mac OSX since if I get this working I won't have to keep turning my computer on and off

Thanks

John
Modify message

also as well as the message about NIS not booted, in the wallet drop-down list, "Boot local node" is greyed out.  Leaving the wallet and trying to set up auto boot results in :

Oops!

ERROR 500
An error occurred that the development team did not have foreseen. Apologies for this, maybe a retry might help. Otherwise, please open up an issue within the NEM NIS/NCC community.

theres a lot of problems with testnet atm cos the devs have dismantled the test net their end afaik.. nothing to worry about i dont think but you might not be able to get it going because of that.

thanks very much for getting back to me so promptly kod (again!)
ok.  seems likely that I have a persistent problem since I remember similar problems previously and I never did get up and running on Mac OSX (had to teach myself linux!).  but if there are testnet problems I'll wait until all that is confirmed working before I spend more time on it.  Working from home is dangerous!  nobody looking over my shoulder to check I'm working instead of playing about in the crypto-world!

id say the next version is going to be live net.. haha i wouldnt want to work from home.. id get nothing done what so ever :D

i know I normally do a busy "people" type job but on 6-month research secondment and I'm having real trouble focusing on it…15 yrs after leaving university I don't know what's happened to my motivation!  particularly as my wife stopped me smoking weed about 10 yrs ago…  I seem to have had more drive as a stoned student !!

ok I seemed to get this working - first on Linux and then on Mac OSX

Perhaps things just got moving on the network or something (spot the clueless non-techie) or perhaps it was something I did.  Only thing i changed in the last 24 hrs was going into the router and opening port 7890 to more and more IP addresses associated with my computer ( e.g. 198.162.1.1, 198.162.1.2, 198.162.1.3 etc etc) - and also I noticed that the Linux instructions had the command ./nix.runMon.sh where on MacOSX I'd only been using ./nix.runNis.sh and ./nix.runNcc.sh

Who knows how but it is working, thanks very much to patmast3r, BloodyRookie, mixmaster, Parana, jabo38s, gimre, kodtycoon, 38 nemly dancer if that's a person, and to anyone else who's helped.

Harvesting and hodling, let's go!
