If I for some reason want to hide how much NEM I have what is the best way of doing that for me?

Say I once pay my friend a couple of NEM for somthing, can he see how "rich" I am forever after that? If that is the case, wont that make people a bit worried about using NEM, as I know many people would not want to share their bank account balance with the world.

Tech will solve that. Nxt services will have the ability to anon accounts. Long story short you will be able to send your nem to multigateway, once it is "mgwnem" asset you will be able to send from one nxt account to another using nxt services and then withdraw to a nem account. The jump from one nxt account to another will be done using bitcoindark as a medium and intantdex as facilitator of the tx breaking the link between nxt accounts. This should I think be possible to do with nem too in the future I would assume but it would be a while before that happens. There will be solutions ether way.

You can simply open a second NEM account. Transfer to it from your Primary account as much as needed then from the second account you can transfer to any party you wish. Might lose a few NEM along the way but for start it could do if it's vital you conceal your outstanding amount.

Though this is one option to obscure the amount of NEM you have, ideally the end user will want something alot simpler.  The user could just check a checkbox before he sends a transaction, and a script would run doing everything you stated or activate a different option for anonymity.  This would be alot simpler for the end user than going through the process you laid out manually.

IMHO anonymous payments are important and I hope NEM will one day have such a feature but I'd like to see it as 3rd party service rather than part of the core.
It's just another excuse for goverments to fuck us.

Exactly right.

This is a very valid point. I sincerely hope it will be possible to see "addons" to NEM that allow for more anonymous accounts/payments.

Good point patmast3r, I agree.

Agree with pat.

Just do Mixing as a Service = MaaS. 10 NEM per mix
