is it possible to implement some type of web of trust type thing into the AE and digital good store?
sort of like the way PoI works.
you gain trust by people trading your asset, but not just how many trades but rather who trades your asset… if you want to gain a higher trust you need many people to trade your asset and those with higher trust trading your asset give you higher trust. if you then issue any future asset they would have a trust rating higher than if you issued from a new account based on trust built up from previous asset issuance? perhaps importance score could play into it somehow?
theres always been a problem with listing assets in the client because everything is playable from number of trades, volume etc, but if you were to combine "trust", importance, volume and trades into one asset issuer rating score, it would be very difficult to manipulate and their fore scam assets would never have the chance to make it to the top…
the end of the day, its not exactly user friendly having to go to another site to find the stuff you want to buy… like with the nxt client you have to go on the forum to find any assets or items for sale on DGS…
you could limit the listing of assets to assets with above a minimum rating score? so when new people come they only see trusted assets…? any new assets that are issued would soon build up trust and rise into the listed assets. if someone has built up trust and lists a second, the second, would automatically be listed in the client as a trusted asset?
thoughts?
I could certainly see users being able to rate a seller/issuer.
I'm not exactly sure if I understand this though:
everything is playable from number of trades, volume etc,
How is all that playable ? You mean if they are bying their own stuff ?
I really like this idea. I think importance scores could be a good proxy for reviews, at least to some extent. Adding in eigentrust++ scores would help even further. We should consider this when designing the AE.

well if it's done by volume, someone can trade with themselves with large amounts same goes for number of trades.. if it's done just by one score or another you will get the most trusted or most traded or highest volume etc always at the top.. but if all methods of rating are in play you would end up with possibly the best way of listing assets in the client, while ensuring the scam ones have virtually zero chance to get even half way up or in the list at all...
recently someone bought 500k fake nxttycoin because there was two listed in secureae. we need to try and list as many real assets as possible in the client while not showing scams..
it would be really cool if there was a slider toggle thing for users to decide on what assets to show down to what level of trust. like a min max price dial on hotel sites.. so people can choose to hide assets with trust level bellow say 50% or @ 0% to show all assets..

You have a very valid point RE: the fake nxttycoin. The dev should seriously think about how the asset name registry is to be designed to weed out this. Although we cannot weed out say something like abc888 vs. abc8888, one of which is obviously out to scam or to undercut business, but if the name registry is properly laid out, the chances are much slimmer to scam or to undercut a business.
