What does NEM look like in one year?

If it's a success?
If it's a failure?

I just wonder what people think…

It's not launch and it is already a success
The best is coming as long there is no more drama…

Here's a photo from my house in a year: http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/9/93998/2557052-themoon.jpg

In the long-term, I think it is pretty likely that crypto-currency will be widespread and be a huge success. It is difficult to say how long that is though.
It is also likely that Bitcoin will be here to stay and lead the pack. In my opinion, it is not even a good thing if an alt-coin somehow surpass Bitcoin.
For alt coin, I like Bitshare technical model.  BIT asset model is very clever but the concept is not perfect though. It could be interesting if NEM could pick up an idea or two from Bitshare camp.

You are the only one up there? What can you do with NEM? ;)

Bitshare's technical flaw is completely virtualising and decoupling real world assets and turn them into their own controlled environment. It is not completely fungible per se.

AltNemo has a better model, albeit, I must say, it is not so easy to roll out as it requires real world participation.

The best way to look at it is, Bitshare is one step remote from the real world and AltNemo is in the real world. Therefore, Bitshare is decentralized while AltNemo's concept is somewhat centralized.

I'd rather not predict if it is going to be a failure or success. But, I'll have this to say to make it successful:

    [li]It must hit the masses[/li]
[li]It will go no where if the AE and Business rules are not put in place[/li]
[li]It must have concerted, coherent development initiatives and not go all over the place like NXT[/li]
[li]All offerings should be unique from each other. In other words, no two entities should do the same type of offering. This will confuse the market[/li]
[li]All offerings should be rolled out and synchronous with one another and leverages on each other.[/li]
    [li]Offerings shall be holistic.[/li]
[li]When we go to market and sing a song, the song will be a complete and coherent song.[/li]

This sounds very centralized but that's the way it should be in the beginning. Once adoption goes into the early majority phase, then the initiative can be decentralized.

I believe the above will see success if it is done that way. Unfortunately, this may never be the case. :frowning:

We are still in the innovator stage of this technology.  Bitcoin only has these 500K-2M persons using it.  The internet back in the late 1980s had up to 3 million users.

You have to ask what Bitcoin is doing wrong in terms of userbase expansion.  It's the binary method:  all or nothing.

You have to push for digital currencies to be this technology used by 100 million to 1 billion persons and it has to bring utility to these persons.

Yes, unfortunately a lot of cryptomaniacs are binary in approach. They are living on ideals that go nowhere. I am a strong advocate of enticing the real world to come in first. Enticing them to come in is already one big step for them to embrace the decentralized realm.

The course of subsequent events and usage will determine their total adoption of a decentralized technology and it will happen when the masses adopt it.

Nobody needed an email then. Now, if you are connected and if you say you don't have an email at least, you'd be lying through your teeth!
