Hey guys so a month ago i figured I would exchange my eos for NEM via Shapeshift…well I forgot the message and the eos was sent out but never put in my nem wallet. My EOS wallet said they could do nothing as the EOS is gone

Were you transferring to your nem wallet that you hold the private keys to? or to a nem wallet on an exchange?
Situation 1:
You do not need a message to be there if you transferred it to a nem address that you have a private key to. And in that case you should be having the funds in your nem wallet OR the funds were sent back to your return eos address that you entered in shapeshift.
Situation 2:
If you had transferred to a nem address at an exchange then it is a totally different story. You need to enter the message and shapeshift does not allow you to enter the message. In such a case you need to contact your exchange where your nem address is controlled and give them your transaction details for them to credit your account manually - which could take them weeks depending on the exchange.
First just check your return eos address and your nem address to see what the actual situation is.
You can use block explorers for nem and eos to see transactions at those addresses. If you need help in tracking the transactions then send me the nem address and the eos return address that you used on shapeshift. Also let me know if the nem address was on an exchange or not.
Please confirm:
Did you transfer 120 eos to shapeshift for conversion to xem?
Which nem address did you give them to transfer the xem to?
FYI:
I checked with shapeshift - they did receive 120 eos from your wallet AND there were no refunds to your refund address that you gave. So it seems like the xem were sent to the nem address you gave.
Can you send the nem address for me to check up?
If the xem is not there at the address you gave them, then you can re-open the ticket with shapeshift to ask them 2 things:
Which address the xem were sent to. Maybe there was some discrepancy in the nem address you gave and the nem address they sent it to.
what was the transaction id/hash of the sending transaction (to nem). Your image just shows the transaction id of the eos transaction.
Since you have not specified the nem address here, the only thing we can be certain of right now with the available info is that you sent 120 eos to shapeshift.

I dont know where to find the transaction id hash of the sending to nem
This is freewallet address not yours. If you have sent to freewallet without message you must contact with they support…
But first you must ask shapeshift about transaction hash if you can’t find it in your shapeshift history.
BTW. For storing XEM i recommend use official wallet but not some multiwallets where you don’t own private key.

Yeah but you have send also XEM to freewallet yes? And freewallet requires to deposit also message code. Please look at XEM deposit page at freewallet.
First you need know transaction hash (ask shapeshift) and next you need contact with this hash to freewallet.

You gave the correct address i think. Did you give them an address from some exchange? This address looks like an exchange address. In that case shapeshift cant do anything now since the funds were transferred to this address. You have to ask the exchange that gave you this address to credit your account manually.
Let me explain - shapeshift does not send messages with transactions and many exchanges require a message to identify which user the funds belong to. Exchanges use a common nem address for multiple users and the only way to automatically credit the funds to the right user they need a message to identify whose funds it is.
But all is not lost. Contact the exchange or wallet provider and give them your shapeshift transaction details and ask them to credit your account manually. They can do that but if they are overloaded and thin on support then it could take a few weeks.

Where did you get this nem address from? Was it an exchange? Or a wallet provider?

Write to that exchange or wallet provider that you made this transaction to xem via shapeshift.

Provide the exchage with the shapeshift transaction details that transferred your nem.
If you do not have a transaction id (not the eos transaction id that is mentioned in the image you uploaded here - but the id of the nem transaction) get it from shapeshift or if you tell me the exact amount of xem that shapeshift was supposed to transfer then I can try to look up that transaction for you on the nem explorer.

Also provide the exchange with the nem address where the funds were transferred

Explain to the exchange that shapeshift does not include messages in transactions and hence the transaction was sent to the nem address without the message

Ask them to credit your nem account on the exchange manually.
Keep following up - manual crediting can take some time. If it is very slow try sending stinkers on social media or tweet at them 
Someone high up at the exchange is bound to take it up for you if you make a loud enough noise about the exchange not crediting funds that you sent.

you can ask shapeshift by re-opening the ticket or creating a new one.
Be specific - ask them for the nem transaction details - not the eos trx details.
Also let me know the exact amount of xem that were transferred - i can try to look it up on the nem explorer and try to find that transaction.
the nem address was from myfreewallet nem
i didnt write any of the info down because i trusted them. tomorrow i will
find the date i traded 120 eos and find the nem price of that day. i can
do the math to find out
Contact them with the info i outlined and follow the same procedure. The fact of the matter is that the funds were sent to them so it is their responsibility to credit your account with it. They cannot sit on the funds or spend it now that they have it. Nor can they hide behind the fact that there was no message - at least not for very long.
But it is important to first find the transaction id of the nem transaction so that you can give it to them. They should credit your account manually once you provide them with proof that it was really you who transferred the funds.
Send me the date and the exact amount. Or better still ask shapeshift to provide the transaction id of the nem transaction they did for you.
