Thanks for posting Anthony. This is a project the team is very passionate about! We have testing the app currently at universities within Australia and once we have complete the beta testing will be made available for the general public.

All thoughts and feedback for the proposal would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Interesting idea, though i have one concern regards legalities. It seems the drivers are paid in a very similar way as say, uber drivers, who in most jurisdictions that i know of, require special licenses that allow them to accept payment for transporting passengers. Is this the case in australia for Uber and if so, is there something that would exempt or differentiate drivers from that requirement? Requiring such a license would be a major draw back seeing as the vast majority of people dont have this license and likely wont get it.

Hi @kodtycoon and thanks for your interest!

You’re correct in saying that generally speaking those who drive for the purposes of making profit require additional licensing such as Uber drivers. However, we had begun discussion with state government when our concept was developed, who had our program legally reviewed.

Given that we have restricted use for drivers to limit them from making a profit on their rides (it is only calculated on a cost to recovery basis and drivers can only use twice a day) it is considered carpooling and thus there is no need for increased checking. We have written confirmation from state government confirming that provided we follow measures that limit profit to be taken, we will not require any additional checking to be complete.

Thanks,
Anthony

There are many projects named MOBI.
It is used in many block chain projects.

The famous belongs to the BTCC.
https://www.mobi.me/

It also exists in the automobile industry.

I am worried about it first.

Hi @GodTanu,

Thanks for your comment!

While I cannot comment on the status of the two you have mentioned above, our name Mobi is trademarked in Australia along under specified classes (class 39 - technology relating to transport). I understand this does not cover us in terms of international presence but given we are beginning in Australia we can appropriately address these concerns once an international approach is finalised and put in place.

Thanks,
Anthony
